Today's thought in ENTREPRENEUR WORLD:
The book I'm recommending to every entrepreneur I know (turns out there's a lot of us) - BUY BACK YOUR TIME by Dan Martell.
As a spiritual entrepreneur we have ideas. And we execute those ideas.
And that means WE ARE BUSY.
Enter the resource mentioned above. Dan gives some good practical tools on how to offload the $hit that we don't need to be doing with our time and how to think practically about the whole of it.
See the D.R.I.P. matrix below (here sketched on a WHITE BOARD for some clients of mine).
X Axis (horizontal) - What really lights you up, gets you excited right now (not last year)
Y Axis (vertical) - What brings your organization or ministry expression or business value (it can be dollars, it can be growth, I recommend MISSION WORSHIP COMMUNITY)
D. Delegate / Where the X is... cut it if it brings little value, OR find someone else to do it.
R. Replace / Strategically Hire...if it brings value to what we are doing but we don't exactly enjoy it. This is where entrepreneurs get stuck. We used to love it. We used to get excited about it. Not anymore. And it'll just drag us down. It's still very important though - so find the right person to run it.
I. Investment / Hobby...If it really does get us pumped, maybe it's a new thing we are learning but it has no place in the organization. Maybe it's a deep dive of great knowledge gathering. Great! Let's enjoy that and invest in ourselves but let's call it was it is - a hobby.
P. Production / TOP 1, 2, and 3. This is the sweet spot. What are the top 3 things that only we can bring to the organization? What keeps us up at night dreaming and scheming and up out of bed early in the morning, ready to run with the ideas flowing in our heads? THAT is where we should be spending the majority of our time.Name the three. And have someone (maybe in our triad perhaps) keep us accountable for the three things we will do in our church of tomorrow.
Thanks, Dan!
