if it is of man it will fail...

"...but if it is of God then you will not be able to stop it" (Acts 5:38-39)

It's a new year, people!

To our spiritual entrepreneurs, we know that family time is precious during the holidays, and oh so good to be together.

We also know you, apostle, and if you are anything like us you're itching to get back to it. God is downloading all sorts of dreams and visions and ideas and plans into your very soul and you are ready to GO!

Insert 2025, a whole new year, a whole new perspective and a whole new opportunity to uncover the church of tomorrow.

My 18 year old son and I sat down and chatted about the first five chapters of Acts this morning over tea. We decided to seize this long month home from college to talk and pray about what God has for us in the new year. (dreamy, right??)

He summed up the chapters like this in true Discovery Bible Study fashion:

  1. God is relentless. (in pursuit of his people and in his plans and in his power)

  2. Humans, we are stubborn.

So what was our take-home/application? Acts 5:38 and 39. Make bold plans this year. Go after what God is calling us to. Pray and be sure that it is of him and not us. And take this verse to heart. It won't work if it's our plan and not his anyway!

And here's a little inspirational pump-up song to get you fired up. It's one of my son's favorite Christian artists. Don't worry, it isn't cheesy. It's good. It's loud. And it hits. (the video, well, you decide, but as my kids and I say when we don't want to offend, "It's not my favorite...")
